Cocoa — Cherish Your Photos

Organize your family photos
on your Mac.

Cherish is a private Mac photo organizer that helps you find the people, years, trips, and moments hidden in your Photos library. It runs on your Mac, keeps your saved search results local, and helps preserve your family memories without cloud AI.

Read the guide: how to organize photos on Mac

“You have thousands of photos. You can’t find any of them. You know you should do something about it. But where do you even start?

Most families feel this way. You’re not alone.

📷

Too many photos, no clear way to organize them

Your Mac photo library has grown for years. Finding that trip in 2017 means scrolling through tens of thousands of images with no end in sight. You give up before you find it.

📐

Screenshots mixed with memories

Boarding passes, memes, receipts — all jumbled in with your daughter’s birthday and your parents’ anniversary. Your real memories are buried in the noise.

Apple Photos can only take you so far

Apple Photos is a good library, but organizing years of family memories by person, trip, and year still takes work. The people you care about should not be buried in a camera roll forever.

😵

Organizing this feels impossible

You’ve meant to sort through it all for years. Every time you open the app it’s overwhelming — where do you even begin? 50,000 photos staring back at you, no clear path forward. So you close it and tell yourself you’ll do it later.

A bounded path

Do not spend months trying to organize your photos.

Give Cherish roughly 5–10 one-hour sessions. The goal is great progress in less than a week: short focused sessions where you guide the app, then Memory Runs do the heavy work between sessions — organizing the mess, saving the work locally, and making the photos you care about findable in seconds.

Session

Teach one small piece

Choose a person, year, trip, or important memory. Cherish asks for the human judgment only you can give.

Memory Run

Let your Mac work

Cherish scans in the background or overnight, saving progress as it turns years of photo chaos into useful results.

Review

Wake up further along

Review what Cherish found, approve the uncertain matches, and keep moving without starting over.

Find the people
who matter.

Cherish is face recognition photo software for Mac built around your family. Teach it the people and pets you care about, then search by person, year, trip, or memory — privately, on your Mac.

🎓

Private face recognition on Mac

Show Cherish a few photos and label the faces. It learns everyone who matters — from grandma to the family dog — and finds them across your library.

🔍

Search by person, place, or time

Type “Mom at the beach, summer 2019” and actually find it. No scrolling, no guessing — just your memory, found quickly.

📁

Save the work you put in

Your people, teaching, and search results are saved on your Mac. Export organized folders to a drive you control when you want a family archive you can open in Finder.

How Cherish organizes photos on Mac

No tech skills required. If you can choose a few photos and type a name, you can start organizing your photo library with Cherish.

1
🎓 Drag photos • Label faces • Name places

Teach

Tell Cherish who’s who. Label a few faces and it learns to recognize them across your library — grandma, the kids, the family dog, and the people you never want to lose track of.

2
🔍 Search by name • Place • Year • Event

Search

Type a name, a year, a place, or an occasion. Cherish helps you find the photos you meant to organize years ago. No more endless scrolling. No more “I know it’s in here somewhere.”

3
📁 Year / Person / Event folders • On your drive

Back Up

Export to organized folders on a drive you own — year by year, person by person, trip by trip. Your memories stay readable outside the app.

Cherish enhances Apple Photos. It does not try to replace it.

Apple Photos and iCloud Photos are great at capture, syncing, and keeping your library available across devices. Cherish rounds out that experience with private organization, local storage, readable archives, and a more enjoyable way to sort the people and memories that matter.

Founder claim
“Once your family is sorted in Cherish, you should be able to find any photo you care about in under 60 seconds.”

That is the standard we are building toward: not another place to dump photos, but a private system that becomes your new photo home.

— Merrill Fink, founder of Cherish

Organizing photos on Mac, answered

Straight answers for families trying to make years of photos findable again.

What is the best way to organize photos on a Mac?

Start with how you actually remember your life: people, years, trips, and important moments. Cherish helps you teach the app who matters, search by person or date, and save useful results locally on your Mac.

Does Cherish upload my photos to the cloud?

No. Cherish is built as a private Mac photo organizer. Face recognition and search run on your Mac, and your photos are not uploaded to cloud AI services.

Can Cherish find photos of a specific person?

Yes. You teach Cherish the people and pets you care about by labeling example photos. Cherish then helps find those people across your photo library.

How much will Cherish cost?

Planned launch pricing is a $75 one-time Rescue & Secure setup and a $6/month ongoing membership. New members will see a limited-time introductory launch offer: $37.50 one time and $3/month.

Does Cherish replace Apple Photos or iCloud Photos?

No. Cherish is designed to enhance Apple Photos and iCloud Photos, not replace them. Apple is excellent for capture, library management, and cloud sync. Cherish adds private organization, local face search, saved search results, and readable archives you control.

Where are my saved search results stored?

Cherish saves your people, teaching data, and search results locally on your Mac so the work you put into organizing your family photos is preserved.

Can I use Cherish with iCloud Photos?

Yes. Cherish is designed to work alongside Apple Photos and iCloud Photos. Use iCloud for everyday sync and Cherish for private organization, saved search results, and local archives.

Can I back up organized photos to my own drive?

Yes. Cherish is built around exporting organized, readable folders to a drive you control so important family memories are useful outside the app.

What happens if I want to step away from cloud backups?

Cherish is not a full cloud replacement, but it helps you build a local organization and archive layer on your Mac and external drive. That gives your photo work a usable home outside a cloud account.

Built from loss.
Made with love.

Cherish started with a dog named Cocoa.

He was a sweet, dark-coated boy who brought joy to everyone around him. When he passed, we realized how precious the photos were — and how hard it was to find the right ones when it mattered most. Scrolling through thousands of images, knowing the memory was in there somewhere, but unable to find it.

That feeling is what Cherish is built to prevent. Not just for pets — for grandparents, kids, vacations, ordinary Tuesdays that turn out to matter more than you knew.

No cloud. No data harvesting. No “we’ll use your memories to train our AI.” Just your family’s story, finally organized the way it deserves to be.
